My Credit Card Bill Was $40K and I Love It
--
My credit card balance was $40,058.48
I knew I was spending a lot of money but… damn.
At first my heart dropped when I saw the balance… but then I quickly found a smirk on my face.
I did it! I thought… I finally was able to spend more than $1,000 a day on my side hustles.
It may sound strange for someone to be proud of how high their credit card bill got.
But for me what it meant was I achieved a new level of scale for my business.
My side hustles are all online, no office space, little equipment… so my overhead is really spending money on advertising Google/YouTube & some Facebook.
I grew my first side hustle all organically using SEO & YouTube and have only been using paid ads for myself really 3–4 years. Before my experiences working with paid ads was from client budgets used on client objectives.
I remember how scared and nervous I was spending just $10 on a Google ad before to try to sell something online.
And the truth is I had every right to be scared… back then I had NO idea what I was doing! It felt like gambling!
My income has doubled every year for the last 3 years. I felt like I was calling my credit card company every month asking for a credit card increase to prevent me from maxing out my credit bill from YouTube Ads lol.
But every dollar I spent I would make about $4–6 back. I have my online business system locked down to a science and mathematical formula. It’s crazy my monthly budget is starting to get bigger than the majority of my clients…
I can say in the last 2 years I’ve really gone all in on trying to master the game of getting a return on your investment online. The last time I was this passionate about something was when I was a full time dancer.
I’m addicted… I can’t stop thinking or talking about it. My closest friends these days share a common theme where hustling is a big part of their identity as well.
If you are reading this and you manage a budget for you business or are thinking about investing in your own business I just want to emphasize the mindset of long term thinking. I have never met someone who has ran ads before from scratch and hit a home run.
Don’t take a campaign where you don’t make a profit as a loss… take it from the perspective that you purchased your own propriety data to learn from.
The internet is the great equalizer. It levels the playing field for people of all ages to learn, apply, and succeed.
We truly live in an amazing time.
